Comet Sighting

20” x 20” Acrylic on Canvas
This complementary painting evolved using color to strategically create movement. As it progressed, the impression of a comet moving across the sky became evident and thus the theme.
Artist's Bio
What would you do if you were told you might lose your eyesight at any moment? I got serious about making art.
All my life I had been an artsy kind of person, painting, visiting art museums, crafting, and sewing. I earned a degree in Interior Design thinking that would be a nice career in a related field, but it wasn't for me. When I received the diagnosis of Stargardt Disease, an inherited retinal disease, I decided to enroll in an abstract art class. It was the perfect fit for me. I garnered success right away, having several paintings selected for juried shows, including the Midwest National Abstract Exhibition, and received awards as well.
Over the past twenty years my paintings have been displayed in restaurants, banks, offices, and a bed and breakfast as well as many private collections including a yacht.
During the pandemic my husband and I moved to Graham, North Carolina to be closer to family. I am so lucky to be able to share my love for art with my grandchildren.
