Why Give From Your IRA?
An IRA Charitable Rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), allows you to donate directly from your IRA to the Foundation Fighting Blindness without counting the gift as taxable income.
Your gift will:
- Support urgent, sight-saving research.
- Help find treatments and cures for blinding diseases.
- Count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
- Offer potential federal and state tax benefits.
Who Can Give?
- You must be at least 70.5 years old.
- The gift must come directly from your IRA administrator.
- You can give up to the annual IRS limit through a QCD ($108,000 as of 2025) from a Traditional or Roth IRA. (401(k), 403(b), and SEP accounts don’t qualify—please consult with your tax advisor.
- Gifts must be made by December 31 to count for the current tax year.
- Donors cannot receive goods or services in return for a QCD.
