Why Give From Your IRA?

An IRA Charitable Rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), allows you to donate directly from your IRA to the Foundation Fighting Blindness without counting the gift as taxable income.

Your gift will:

  • Support urgent, sight-saving research
  • Help find treatments and cures for blinding diseases
  • Count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
  • Offer potential federal and state tax benefits

Who Can Give?

  • You must be at least 70.5 years old
  • The gift must come directly from your IRA administrator
  • You can give up to the annual IRS limit through a QCD ($108,000 as of 2025) from a Traditional or Roth IRA. (401(k), 403(b), and SEP accounts don’t qualify—please consult with your tax advisor.
  • Gifts must be made by December 31 to count for the current tax year
  • Donors cannot receive goods or services in return for a QCD.
