Jessie Wolinsky has been a longtime lover and supporter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. She was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa at the age of seven, and started fundraising for the first ever Los Angeles VisionWalk back in 2006 with her team “Jessie’s Sight Savers.”She was the President of the Los Angeles Chapter for several years before relocating to San Francisco in 2023. Since then she has been serving as the Vice President of the Bay Area Chapter, and has continued to raise money each year for their VisionWalk event.

She is currently earning her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at San Francisco State University with the goal of providing therapy for the blind and low vision community. She strives to be as authentic as possible, and shares her triumphs, as well as her lifelong battle with depression, on social media and her podcast “Badass Blind Babe.” When she’s not studying, volunteering, or posting, she loves to travel, hike, and dance the night away with her friends and family. Her determination for creating an exciting and fulfilling life for herself despite her vision loss has created the desire to encourage others to do the same, and the passion she has for her community is what continues to drives her forward. Her mantra is “you can’t always control what happens to you in life, but you can always take control of how you respond to it.” At the end of the day, if Jessie can inspire one person to love themselves just a little bit more, she feels has done her job.
