Join us for an informative session focused on inherited retinal diseases, the crucial role of genetic testing, and the importance of low vision resources.
We are honored to welcome Jose Pulido, MD, MS, MBA, MPH as our keynote speaker. Dr. Pulido is a board-certified ophthalmologist with an extensive and impactful research career spanning vitreoretinal infectious and inflammatory diseases, retinal degeneration, stem cells, checkpoint inhibitors, and immunotherapies. His contributions to the field are significant, with nearly 350 peer-reviewed ophthalmic publications, numerous books, book chapters, and editorials.
Dr. Pulido has recently taken on the role of Director of the Henry and Corrine Bower Memorial Laboratories for Translational Medicine at the Vickie and Jack Farber Vision Research Center at Wills Eye Hospital. His impressive academic background includes degrees in chemistry from the University of Chicago (Bachelor’s and Master’s), a Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, and residencies and fellowships at prestigious institutions such as the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He also holds an MBA from the University of Iowa and an MPH from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

- Rebecca Procopio, MS, CGC, Licensed Genetic Counselor at Wills Eye Hospital , will discuss the purpose and process of genetic testing and diagnosis for ophthalmic genetic diseases.
- Ranjoo Prasad, OD, Director of Low Vision Services at Wills Eye Hospital, will explore the assistive devices and technology available to support individuals with visual impairments.
- Beth Deering, MSW, LSW, Chief Program Officer at Visionlink, will provide an overview of Visionlink’s services and other supportive resources to assist individuals with low vision.
