The Los Angeles Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness is partnering with Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines for a free in-person event, “Walking in a Visually Impaired Person’s Shoes.”

This event brings everyone together to better understand life with sight loss through interactive, hands-on experiences. Sighted attendees will explore what low vision and blindness are like, while visually impaired participants are encouraged to share their personal experiences.

Planned activities and demonstrations include:

  • Experiencing the world through various low-vision simulations
  • Understanding the importance of trust when working with a guide dog
  • Braille basics and how Braille supports independence
  • Conversations with cane users and guide dog handlers
  • Human (“sighted”) guide demonstrations

Light snacks will be provided or you may bring your own lunch. Please be sure to register by Monday, April 20.

The Foundation and Los Angeles chapter’s leadership team encourages you to forward this message to anyone you know who would be interested in attending this no cost event.  Additionally, nobody will be asked to make a donation or purchase anything to participate in this gathering.  We welcome you, your spouse, significant other, family and friends to become a part of the Foundation’s chapter community.  The Foundation wants everyone to know that nobody is alone in the fight against blindness.
