The Foundation Fighting Blindness invites you to a Vision Connection event in Jacksonville. This event is designed to enrich and support the blind and low-vision community.

Each session will consist of:

  • Educational presentations: Gain valuable insights from experts on topics such as blinding diseases, clinical trials, genetic testing, low vision rehabilitation, and coping with vision loss.
  • Community engagement and fundraising: Participate in the kick-off for the VisionWalks and help raise funds to support treatments and cures for blinding diseases.
  • Interactive Q&A sessions: Engage directly with experts, share your experiences, and connect with others in a supportive environment.

Speakers:

  • Nick Mendler—Nick is president of the Eye Spy Foundation, which is dedicated to creating a better digital future for the blind and low-vision community through innovations like EyeSpy.org, a one-stop hub for resources, services, and community connection. Diagnosed at 16 with Retinitis Pigmentosa, Nick turned his journey into a mission of empowerment.
  • Bob Schrepfer–Bob owns The Magnification Company & Low Vision Technology Center. With over 35 years in the low-vision industry, Bob has worked with leading companies like Optelec and Humanware before opening several low-vision stores across Florida. He is passionate about helping individuals regain visual independence using cutting-edge technology—from magnification and text-to-speech to AI tools. Bob offers personalized, in-home and in-center demonstrations at no cost. Based in St. Petersburg, he works closely with eye care professionals and support groups to ensure each client gets the right solution for their needs.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is a great opportunity to connect with others affected by blinding diseases and strengthen the community.
