Speakers
Kristin Kopperud holds a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from Florida Institute of technology and previously served as Science Program Director at the ISS National Laboratory, translating bench-top research into microgravity experiments aboard the ISS. Hear Kristin describe an amazing project to create an artificial retina in near zero-gravity aboard the International Space Station.
Dr. Hetal Vaishnav is a fellowship trained Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon, specializing in treating complex eye diseases. He practices at Atlantic Retina Consultants, a physician-owned practice. He is a Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Vaishnav is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, a by-invitation-only society whose members include 57 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. Dr. Vaishnav will describe state-of-the art treatments for AMD and current promising approaches for treatment of inherited retinal disease.
Vision Connection is more than just a gathering. It offers hope, resources, and connection for individuals affected by blinding diseases. Whether newly diagnosed, living with vision loss, or supporting a loved one, attendees are welcomed.
