Join us for a truly enriching and supportive Vision Connection, an evening designed explicitly for the blind and low vision community. This special gathering, titled “An Evening of Art and Insight,” offers a unique blend of cultural appreciation and cutting-edge scientific discussion.

You’ll have the chance to enjoy an intimate art viewing while hearing from leading experts on the latest advancements in vision research and low vision care. This is a powerful opportunity to connect, learn, and gain hope as we look toward the future of sight:

Our Speakers:

  • Dr. Jesse Sengillo, Vitreoretinal Surgeon, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Sengillo specializes in inherited retinal diseases and will share his experience growing up with a mother affected by Usher syndrome, as well as key research developments he’s witnessed in the field. He will also discuss retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and provide insights on how rapidly advancements are being made to offer hope to those affected.
  • Dr. Carmen Perez, Optometrist and Assistant Professor, Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Dr. Perez specializes in low vision care and will discuss low vision exams, explaining how they differ from standard eye exams, and demonstrate some of the devices used to support patients, including the innovative Meta glasses.
