Vision Connection – Connecting Research, Resources, and Resilience
Join us for an evening of inspiration at Emory University, co-hosted by the Foundation Fighting Blindness, Emory Eye Center, and the Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI). The night begins with a reception featuring small plates and refreshments, offering a chance to connect with fellow community members.
You’ll hear directly from scientists whose work is fueled by donor support and learn from CVI leaders about the real-world impact of services that empower those living with vision loss. Together, we’ll celebrate how generosity drives progress—from discoveries in the lab to independence in daily life.
Meet the featured guests:
- Lisa Kennedy – current leader of the Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) since 2020, Lisa brings decades of nonprofit experience in rehabilitation and human services. Under her direction, CVI continues to empower over 1,000 Georgians annually with innovative programs that promote independence for people with vision loss.
- Dr. Nieraj Jain – Dr. Jain is a distinguished vitreoretinal surgeon at Emory Eye Center. He specializes in treating complex conditions such as macular diseases, retinal detachment, and inherited retinal conditions. A graduate of Duke University, his research is focused on advanced retinal imaging and gene therapy. Dr. Jain is nationally recognized for his contributions to ophthalmology, notably his discovery of pentosan polysulfate maculopathy, which earned him Best Paper honors at the AAO Annual Meeting.
