Artist's Bio

Hello my name is Josephine Ortega, I am a college student continuing her passion of art despite me being visually impaired. I was diagnosed with Stargardt disease when I was a child. A rare genetic eye disease that loses the central vision overtime as a child to adulthood. Although I’ve lost some of my Vision during the time as a kid to a teenager, I’m very blessed to say that my vision has plateaued, which means it’s in a place where it’s stable for now.  I’m blessed to continue my passion for art, to show that disability or not you can still pursue your passion, there are just always going to be a different route and approach to reaching them. The three paintings I’m submitting are what I’m most proud of. Despite a genetic eye disease that doesn’t allow to see close up to detail, I was able to accomplish that in my paintings. I Thank God for allowing me to continue this journey with Him, with my family and friends to keep pushing me towards my dream as an artist. Thank you, Fighting Blindness, for this opportunity.
