This event will start with a casual hour-long “Welcome to Winter Wellness Walk” through the forest preserve led by an expert nature educator. Sensory experiences will be provided for all ages and levels of vision, both inside and outside.

Following the walk, you will enjoy snacks while continuing to explore your senses. Check out the really cool activities for all ages that will take place within the center.

Crafting: Make your own animal or plant print in clay! Remember your favorite texture by creating a word in Braille! You can collect and use animal print stamps; leaves of different shapes (evergreens, maple, oak); acorns; and bark from different trees.

Touch Table: Use and label furs, animal skins/bones, shells, and dried plant parts (milkweed seeds and pods, coneflower, mullein, leaves, bark, dried scat).

Sound station: Use an identifier and sound cards, Audubon song birds, and white wild indigo seed pods (if available from outside).

Smell Table: Collect plants with different smells.
