Updates on Gene Therapies for Inherited Retinal Diseases

Kimberly E. Stepien, M.D., Associate Professor, Medical Retina & Ocular Genetics, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, UW-Madison 

Dr. Stepien will provide an update on gene therapies for various Inherited Retinal Diseases (IRDs) including Choroideremia, Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), and Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA). Dr. Stepien is a clinical scientist with research interests in inherited retinal degenerations and ocular imaging. She is currently PI for several clinical trials exploring novel emerging therapies for IRDs and other retinal pathology, and she serves as an investigator at the Fundus Photography Reading Center at UW-Madison.

Many mainstream devices, like the Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, make it very easy to access a large library of media content. These devices give you access to popular providers like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus making the options endless. But, if you have low vision or blindness, what options are available to assist in accessing and watching this content? Join Luke Scriven and Cory Ballard from Vision forward as they discuss and demonstrate low vision options, like Vision Buddy, and blindness options, like screen readers and audio description.
