Foundation Fighting Blindness To Host Annual 2024 Gala Night for Sight

Press Releases

The May 9th gala will raise awareness and fund research leading to treatments and cures for blinding diseases.

NEW YORK, NY May 1, 2024 – The Foundation Fighting Blindness, the driving force in the global development of treatments and cures for blinding diseases, is hosting its annual Night for Sight gala on Thursday, May 9th at 6 p.m. ET at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan. Night for Sight will present the prestigious Visionary Award to Stephen Rappoport, CEO of L’Amy America and Noah Katz, President and CEO of PSK Supermarkets. Night for Sight will celebrate these leaders for their commitment to the Foundation’s efforts to be a beacon for those impacted by blindness and vision loss.

Night for Sight will be hosted by Adam Chodak, News 8 evening anchor and managing editor in Rochester, NY, who is personally affected by Stargardt disease and an important advocate for others with blinding diseases. Adam first offered his “Friday Thoughts” on air in October 2023 in an insightful and inspiring piece on his story and journey. Since then, Adam has appeared on podcasts discussing his journey with Stargardt and the resources and support available for others who are blind or visually impaired. The Foundation Fighting Blindness is honored to have Adam emcee this exciting event and hear him share his story with our community.

The evening will feature music by Danny Kean, an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and actor. Blind since birth, Danny started playing piano at the age of two, and by the age of fifteen, he was playing solo at bars and jazz jams in New York City. He is also the youngest person to be inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame. Danny will share some of his story as well as play a few pieces of his original work for the Night for Sight gala this year, adding to the atmosphere and theme of the evening.

“The Night for Sight gala plays a huge part in supporting our mission to advance treatments and cures for blinding diseases,” said Jason Menzo, chief executive officer of the Foundation Fighting Blindness. “With the help of our honorees and committee, together we have succeeded in illuminating a path forward to move beyond hope and toward reality. There is tangible evidence happening every single day of the progress being made.”

Individual tickets to Night for Sight are $1,000, and Next Generation (under age 35) are $750. Sponsorship opportunities are available and range from $2,500 to $100,000.
